You have to appear/pass Six compulsory subjects as shown in the image and three optional subjects to be selected from any one group.  I am myself AMIE CSE completed in 2013, My Optional subjects were CP 412 Computer Networks, CP 413 Operating Systems and CP 415 Database Management Systems.

Planning and Strategy:- CP 404 Programming Languages is a tough subject which includes programming concepts, C, C++ and Java programming languages. You have to study and practive hard for this. My strategy for studying the subject is by buying a suitable textbook for Basic Programming Concepts, C Language, C++ Language, and Java Language which covers the entire syllabus, read it thoroughly, buy solved question papers book from Jain Brothers. Download excellent study notes (large database of study notes/lecture notes available on internet .ppt and .pdf files which are used by faculty in universities to teach their students) from following links for revision and lastly NPTEL Video courses for the subjects.
